Lelapa AI Zines

The Lelapa AI Zines are a collection of thoughts and ideas that represent what Lelapa AI stands for and what we want to share with the world. These zines are CC4.0, so please print and share freely. To assemble any zine, you can check out instructions here.
Musings on Ubuntu Punk
Much science fiction is typically set in a Cyber-punk world – a dystopia. In many ways, we’re already in that dystopia. It’s about time we refresh our dreams and imaginings about the future of our world and technology – without new stories, we have no better future to build towards. This zine coins the term Ubuntu-punk: an artistic and technological movement towards more sustainable futures where technology is human-centric, and improves global well-being.
The Opportunity of Africa
In Binyavanga Wainaina’s iconic and bitterly sarcastic article “How to write about Africa”, he details how the world writes about Africa, as an exotic place to be saved, where the heroes are the western saviours: “Among your characters you must always include The Starving African, who wanders the refugee camp nearly naked, and waits for the benevolence of the West.“.
The “Dark Continent” narrative is boring and unimaginative. This zine describes how the population of Africa have the opportunity to look within and build for our population of 1 billion people: Where the west sees limitations, we see possibilities.
Responsible AI Toolkit
There is much talk about the need for Responsible AI, but much of the dialogue is disjointed – describing only parts of the process, or focusing on tooling that deals with a specific responsibility function. This zine describes how to embed responsible practices from idea inception, all the way to production and maintenance.

Thanks for the feedback! That’s an interesting point. I suppose there are many reasons, internal and external, why we do not accomplish all that we might. Regardless, I am thankful for the Lord’s grace in that. Thanks again!
